Meta Launches Standalone AI App with Llama 4, Integrates with Glasses and Web

Meta has introduced a new Meta AI app, designed to offer users a more personalized AI experience. Expanding on the AI integration in WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger, the app focuses on voice interactions with the AI assistant for a more streamlined and interactive experience.

Powered by Meta's Llama 4 model, the app offers enhanced conversational capabilities, providing more intuitive, relevant, and socially aware responses. A microphone icon will signal when voice interactions are active, enabling seamless multitasking. The app also incorporates features like image generation and editing, accessible through voice or text.

A key highlight is the full-duplex speech technology demo, which generates AI voice from dialogue rather than text. Initially available in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, this demo offers a glimpse into the future of AI conversations.

The Meta AI app includes a Discover feed where users can share AI prompts, and integrates with Ray-Ban Meta glasses for a unified experience. Users can move between the app, glasses, and web, with all interactions synced across platforms. Meta also optimizes the web interface, adding voice capabilities, an enhanced image generation tool, and a document editor in select regions.

Meta emphasizes user control, offering a "Ready to talk" feature for seamless voice interactions. This launch underscores Meta's goal to make AI more integrated, personalized, and accessible across its ecosystem.
