India Blocks Instagram Accounts of Pakistani Celebrities After Pahalgam Attack

Following a recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir that claimed 26 lives, India has intensified its digital crackdown on Pakistan by blocking several Instagram accounts of prominent Pakistani celebrities. The move comes after earlier restrictions on Pakistan’s official Twitter handles.

Indian users reported being unable to access Instagram profiles of actors like Hania Aamir, Mahira Khan, Ali Zafar, Sanam Saeed, Bilal Abbas, Iqra Aziz, Imran Abbas, and Sajal Aly—all major figures in Pakistan’s entertainment industry.

Interestingly, accounts of Fawad Khan and Atif Aslam remain accessible in India at this time.

This step marks a deeper shift in India's approach toward Pakistan, with social media platforms increasingly becoming tools of political messaging and public sentiment during times of heightened bilateral tension.
