Godrej Consumer Products Celebrates Labour Day with ‘Hands That Speak’

For International Labour Day (May 1), Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL) launched the digital film ‘Hands That Speak,’ celebrating workforce diversity and inclusivity. The film honors employees with disabilities at GCPL’s Tamil Nadu manufacturing facility, featuring individuals with hearing and speech disabilities who share their stories through Indian Sign Language (ISL), with subtitles. Their hands become symbols of strength and pride, redefining communication and contribution in the workplace.

According to UnearthInsight, only 11% of India’s 30 million PwDs are employed. GCPL’s initiative calls for systemic change to create inclusive workplaces. The film highlights the power of silent strength and encourages organizations to foster equity. GCPL’s Chengalpattu plant, with 5% representation from PwDs and LGBTQIA+ communities, stands as a model for inclusive manufacturing.
