Google has broadened its advertising placements within AI-driven search experiences, including AI Overviews and the newly launched AI Mode. This expansion offers brands more ways to engage with consumers as AI reshapes search behavior.
With over 5 trillion annual searches, AI Overviews—one of Google’s most successful Search launches—has boosted search activity by 10% in key markets like the U.S. and India. Users report higher satisfaction and increased commercial queries where AI Overviews appear, creating more chances for brands to connect.
Starting now, Search and Shopping ads in AI Overviews will appear on desktop in the U.S., with mobile and international rollouts planned. Ads will also be tested within AI Mode, integrating relevant promotions alongside AI-generated responses for complex queries.
Advertisers using Performance Max, Shopping, and Search campaigns with broad match are eligible, with Google offering best practices via its "AI Essentials" guide. This move underscores Google’s ongoing push to embed AI throughout its advertising platform, enhancing both user experience and ad performance.
