Colgate-Palmolive introduces 100% recyclable toothpaste tubes in India

One of the leaders in oral care, Colgate-Palmolive has launched the first of its kind sustainable toothpaste tubes in India. They have rolled out this new packaging in Colgate’s Active Salt as well as Vedshakti to start with. These products will be available in the market for sale from September.

Till now, all the tubes of toothpaste available in India are made from a combination of plastic and aluminum, which is difficult to recycle in the long run. Now with sustainable packaging of tubes introduced by Colgate will change this reality and make progress towards having an eco- friendly future.

This initiative has been launched in partnership with the Mumbai-based tube packaging firm EPL (formerly known as Essel Propack). Colgate plans to roll out this sustainable packaging to all of its brands in the portfolio soon following the launch of the first two. These toothpaste tubes with recyclable packaging will contain the identifiable Recyclable logo and help its customers to differentiate between the packaging effectively.

Colgate-Palmolive India MD Ram Raghavan said to the publication Times of India, “Our desire to reimagine a healthier future for the people we serve and for our planet remains our number one priority. With this category-leading initiative, along with our consumers, our planet will also have a future to smile about. We hope that all toothpaste manufacturers will meet recycling standards for their tubes in order to maximize the positive impact it can have on all of us.”
